Google pays tribute to Writer-Activist Mahasweta Devi on her 92nd Birth Aniversary with a Doodle


Dear Reader, Today is the 92nd Birth Anniversary of Famous Writer-Activist Mahasweta Devi.On her birth anniversary, Google pays tribute to her with a Doodle.

Jnanpith Awardee passed away on 28th July 2016 at the age of 90 in Kolkata, India. She was honored with various literary awards such as Sahitya Akademi Awards in Bengali and Ramon Magsaysay  Award. She also received Indian Civilian Awards such as Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan.

Author Mahasweta Devi was born on 14th January 1926 in Decca,India(Now Dhaka Bangladesh) to literary parents. Her father Manish Ghatak was well known poet and novelist.

Social-Activist Mahasweta Devi raised her voice several times against the discrimination of tribal people in India. She supported the candidature of Mamta Banarjee in the 2011 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election that resulted the end of CPI rule in West Bengal.
